Wide Nets For Wideman: New Record

Alex Wideman, forward for the Indy Fuel, has set the team’s season points record. Wideman has scored 55 points from 22 goals and 33 assists, breaking the previous record of 54 set by Alex Lavoie last season. Wideman was named to the ECHL All-Star Team earlier this season, the first Fuel player to do so in the team’s three-season history.
Wideman, 25, is in his second full professional season. He previously played in Indianapolis for the Indiana Ice during the 2009-2010 and 2010-2011 seasons. Upon the completion of his junior hockey career, he spent four years nearby playing for Miami (OH) University. Wideman has also played for the AHL Binghampton Senators and ECHL Evansville Icemen prior to signing with the Fuel prior to this season. Wideman’s brother, Chris, plays for the NHL Ottawa Senators and the brothers hail from St. Louis, Missouri.

My name is Tom, and I have been an avid hockey and Colts fan for most of my life. The lack of an NHL team here means I try to watch hockey any way I can, including a lot of nights as a youngster inside old Market Square Arena watching the Indianapolis Ice. I am excited to bring you my perspective on a multitude of hockey teams. Additionally I enjoy shooting sports, and rooting for America in the Summer and Winter Olympics.
