Breaking: Indy Fuel Re-Sign High Scoring Fan Favorite

Dalton Tinklenberg

Last December the Indy Fuel completed a trade with the Wheeling Nailers, which brought Josh Shalla to the circle city. Shalla went on to set a career high for points last season, 60, from 32 goals and 28 assists in 71 total games.

This past offseason, Shalla signed in England’s top league, the EIHL, with the Nottingham Panthers. Nottingham released Shalla very recently, and the Fuel jumped at the chance to add an offensive-centered veteran to provide a scoring punch. Shalla displays game-breaking speed with the puck on his stick, and is at his best when left to create plays in the offensive zone.

The 26-year-old was a fourth-round selection of the Nashville Predators in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. He will occupy one of the allotted veteran spots for the Fuel per ECHL rules. Look for Shalla to be in the lineup for this weekend’s rivalry doubleheader against the Fort Wayne Komets.

My name is Tom, and I have been an avid hockey and Colts fan for most of my life. The lack of an NHL team here means I try to watch hockey any way I can, including a lot of nights as a youngster inside old Market Square Arena watching the Indianapolis Ice. I am excited to bring you my perspective on a multitude of hockey teams. Additionally I enjoy shooting sports, and rooting for America in the Summer and Winter Olympics.
