Saturday, December 16, the Butler Bulldogs take on the No.17 Purdue Boilermakers in the Crossroads Classic. This has been a tail of two tales for the two programs, as Butler has gone 5-1 with its only loss against IU in 2014; Purdue being 1-5, recording their first win against Notre Dame last year. The Boilermakers sport a 10-2 record, against the Bulldogs’ 8-2 this season.

The Purdue team has found their identity and will challenge Butler, who is still trying to find theirs. The Bulldogs defense continues to lack defense behind the arc and will struggle with Purdue’s sharp 3-point shooters, especially Dakota Mathias and Ryan Cline. Purdue’s size will also challenge the Bulldogs, as they have two seven footers in Isaac Haas and Matt Haarms. Butler’s offense will struggle against the stifling Boilermaker defense in the Crossroads Classic this Saturday.
Butler will struggle, but I think this will be a close game, as both teams will show up and play their best basketball. Even with that, I think the Bulldogs will surprise people as they have in past, winning as close one with a final score of 85-80.
