Welcome to Blue HQ Media’s “Recruiting Trail” series where we will bring you the latest on the top prospects for your team. Sit back and enjoy the ride as we take a look at today’s prospect, Cole Swider.
Standing at 6’8″ Swider is a breakout forward from Rhode Island. Swider is currently ranked as the 89th overall prospect nationally but many scouts believe he is one of the best shooters in the 2018 class. He possesses exceptional handles and a drive and determination that few his age have.
While Indiana and Purdue have both shown interest in the forward, there appears to be one major roadblock is his recruitment to either school– Xavier. The Musketeers have been in talks with Swider since last fall, even going as far as to call his family members on a regular basis. In an interview with Scout he had this to say, “They call my grandma. They call my grandfather. They make sure they know every single person in my family and everyone who will be involved in my decision. I feel like they care about me as a person.”

On May 3rd, Swider announced via Twitter that he and his family had narrowed the list of potential suitors down to just eight with Indiana, Michigan, Syracuse and Xavier making the cut along with others. That’s bad news for fans in West Lafayette as they did not make the cut. Indiana also has a long way to go for the young recruit’s commitment.
