Indy Fuel Goaltender Sets Another Team Record

With tonight’s thrilling 6-3 Indy Fuel home victory over the Quad City Mallards, Jake Hildebrand has set the Fuel season record for goaltender victories with 18. His 18th victory bests the previous record of 17 set by Mac Carruth during the Fuel’s inaugural season in 2014-2015. The rookie goaltender has been busy this season, as he previously set the Fuel’s single-season records for saves and minutes played and also leads the ECHL in saves this season with 1,601. Twice this season, the ECHL has selected him as the Goaltender Of The Week due to his outstanding play.
Hildebrand, 23, is in his first full professional season after a productive four-year career at Michigan State University.

He was named an All-American and four-time team MVP. At the conclusion of his college career he signed with the ECHL Allen Americans for their playoff run– winning last season’s Kelly Cup. Hildebrand was invited to the NHL Chicago Blackhawks’ training camp prior to this season, before ultimately signing with the AHL affiliate Rockford IceHogs who, in turn, assigned him to the Fuel. My name is Tom, and I have been an avid hockey and Colts fan for most of my life. The lack of an NHL team here means I try to watch hockey any way I can, including a lot of nights as a youngster inside old Market Square Arena watching the Indianapolis Ice. I am excited to bring you my perspective on a multitude of hockey teams. Additionally I enjoy shooting sports, and rooting for America in the Summer and Winter Olympics.
