Indy Fuel’s Neal, Marcoux named ECHL All-Stars

Last year, Alex Wideman was named the first-ever All-Star from the Indy Fuel. This year, the number of All-Star designations have doubled, as two Fuel players will represent Indianapolis when Indy hosts the ECHL All-Star Game and festivities on January 15th.

Team captain, forward Michael Neal, leads the Fuel in goals this season with 10. He has also notched eight assists in 24 games after recovering from last year’s late-season knee injury. The 28-year old was a fifth-round pick of the Dallas Stars in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.

Etienne Marcoux, 24, leads the ECHL in save percentage with a .940 through 15 games played. His 2.33 GAA ranks third overall in the league, and the young prospect has already been called up to the AHL twice this season, once to the Rockford IceHogs, and a loan to the Laval Rocket. After winning Rookie of the Month honors, Marcoux is quietly moving up prospect rankings this year with his solid play, and the All-Star nod is very well deserved.

Stay tuned to Blue HQ as we will bring you more ECHL All-Star coverage from Indianapolis, including appearances by Wayne Gretzky and the Stanley Cup.

My name is Tom, and I have been an avid hockey and Colts fan for most of my life. The lack of an NHL team here means I try to watch hockey any way I can, including a lot of nights as a youngster inside old Market Square Arena watching the Indianapolis Ice. I am excited to bring you my perspective on a multitude of hockey teams. Additionally I enjoy shooting sports, and rooting for America in the Summer and Winter Olympics.
