Two of the league’s most prolific quarterbacks will face off on Sunday in Detroit. This AFC North vs NFC North week seven matchup features the 5-2 Steelers and the 3-3 Lions. The Detroit Lions are coming off of a disappointing high-scoring loss to the New Orlean Saints while the Steelers are coming off of a division win against the Cincinnati Bengals.
As it stands, the Steelers have a game and half lead in the AFC North and the Lions currently set in third place in the NFC North but are still very much in the mix. With the Baltimore Ravens coming off of a dominant win against the Dolphins on Thursday Night Football, the Steelers look to add to their division lead. Meanwhile, with the Packers and Vikings both dealing with injuries at the quarterback position, the Lions look to gain some ground during the middle part of the season.
As mentioned before, this game features two of the best quarterbacks this league has to offer. Ben Roethlisberger has seemed to find his stride after a slow start to the season, while Matthew Stafford is once again putting together another good season.
With such an even matchup at QB, the role players will be the determining factor in this game. Many would agree that the Steelers have two of the best role players in the league with running back Le’Veon Bell and wide receiver Antonio Brown. The Lions defense will have a huge task after giving 52-points to the Saints.
The Lions will be missing two pieces of their offensive line as both Emmett Cleary and Greg Robinson have been ruled out for Sunday’s game. Steelers’ offensive line also took a hit with offensive tackle Marcus Gilbert being ruled out with a hamstring injury. The Steelers will also be missing Stephon Tuitt on the defensive line.
Kickoff is Sunday, October 29th at 8:30 P.M. on NBC.
