The chaos of the Tennessee Vols head coach search that captivated the sports world may be coming to an end.
According to Fox Sports/FS1 and Sports Illustrated writer Bruce Feldmen, Alabama defensive coordinator could be the hire that puts the coaching search to bed.

Pruitt, like Kevin Steele and Mel Tucker, also received his third interview. Odds are, one of these three men will be “the guy” selected to lead the Vols football program. All three of the above mentioned candidates are defensive minded coaches.
Rocky Top Insider’s Nathanael Rutherford offered some key facts to know about what Pruitt brings to the table.
More things to know about Pruitt:
– was a finalist for the Broyles Award (nation's top assistant coach) in 2013 & 2016
– has 3 national championship rings (2 with Bama as DBs coach in 2010 & 2012, one as FSU's DC in 2013)

What stands out are championships and recruiting. Pruitt can build a championship team by recruiting championship players. His resume speaks for itself.
While the Vols would benefit from having a guy like Pruitt lead the squad and build a dominant SEC defense over time, what about the offensive side of the ball?
Enter Tee Martin
After it was reported by USC offensive coordinator himself that he had yet to hear from Tennessee,
Have heard that Tennessee still hasn't made contact w/ #USC OC Tee Martin. Kinda shocked that UT hasn’t at least inquired abt his interest/vision. He led UT to a national title; developed lots of NFL talent at UK & USC and just helped lead Trojans to a Pac-12 title as their OC.

Prior to the news leaking that Fulmer and Martin spoke, Florida Atlantic University coach Lane Kiffin chimed in with his thoughts.

Fulmer finally made the call. A positive conversation could have included a Fulmer sales pitch that would bring Martin back to Rocky Top to run the offense. If somehow Fulmer can add Pruitt and Martin, it could provide Tennessee with a much-needed balance from a leadership standpoint on both sides of the ball.
At the right price, why wouldn’t Martin return home to a place where some of the best memories of his life were made? Martin would thrive to be a key part in helping return Tennessee Vols football to prominence.
Both Pruitt and Martin would be superstars on the recruiting trail and could fill the roster with an influx of championship-contending talent.
It will be interesting to see how this plays out and what move Fulmer decides is best for the program.
An answer could be very, very near.
